Run for Refugees - ASRC Material Aid Team
Story
Rosemary Cramp, Chris Maitland, Alex Penman, Ella D'abbs and Orla Gallagher are taking part in Run 4 Refugees as part of the Melbourne Marathon and hoping to raise much needed funds for the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC). We all volunteer/work in the ASRC Material Aid program and we passionately provide basic essential items to hundreds of asylum seekers ona shoe-string budget.
Rosie will be running 10kms in under 50 minutes
Orla will be running 10kms in under 55 minutes
Ella will be running past all the other competitors
Chris will be running 10kms at the speed of light
Alex will be running 10kms in under 45 minutes
Barney has a bung knee so had to pull out
For 12 years the ASRC has been fighting for the human rights of asylum seekers. Over 7000 people have been provided with sanctuary, support and hope by the ASRC in this time and thousands of people have won their freedom through their work.

ASRC Footscray (Asylum Seeker Resource Centre)
The Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) is both a place and a movement.
As an independent not for profit organisation, we are owned and run by our community. Our programs empower people seeking asylum to maximise their own physical, mental and social well-being. As a movement, we mobilise and unite communities to create lasting social and policy change for people seeking asylum in Australia.
We assist over 7,000 people seeking asylum each year from our centres in Footscray and Dandenong, Victoria.
